Olivia Rivière’s choreographic work springs from a fascination with extended vocals and sound practices, shaped through interdisciplinary exchanges. She creates visceral performances that evoke affective spaces, moving through transforming moods and intensities.
Coming from a background in classical choir singing, she forms a longterm duo with choreographer Lisen Pousette (SE) creating the works Ever losing(2019), DUNKEL(2022) Spiritus(2024), and the site-specific work I hear Bells(2025). Their work takes on a somatic approach, aiming to stretch and reshape the gendered voice through its materiality and reach, while creating open-ended situations that seek out resonance.
In addition Olivia has created Shriller(2022), The red is the boundless(2024) and is currently in the making of The Ringing (workingtitle) (2025).
Her work has been presented at venues such as MDT (SE), Weld (SE), Dansehallerne (DK), ImpulsTanz (AUT), Black Box Theatre (NO), Norberg Festival (SE), Les Urbaines (CH), Ufer_Studios (DE), Angewandte Interdisciplinary Lab (AUT), Saruya (JP), and Gallery Shower (KR). Olivia holds an MA in Choreography from the Exerce program at Centre Chorégraphique National, Montpellier.
