Open call: Space Away #3 in Danseatelier Autumn 2025
Are you a freelance dancer/choreographer, and do you need a studio on a weekly basis to work, practice, research, rehearse and simply just spend time?
Danseatelier is looking for artists working in the field of dance and choreography in temporary need of a place to work!
We wish to share the resources we have by inviting local dance artists to share our dance studio with us at allocated time frames. We curate two separate artists at a time for a period of half a year. This open call is for autumn 2025, and is the third out of four Space Away editions.
We enthusiastically encourage dancers and choreographers from a broad range of representation in terms of background, experience and age to apply.
The curatorial group of Space Away #3 are Stine Frandsen and Karis Zidore, both members of Danseatelier.
We offer
- Possibility for studio booking on weekdays between 16:00-21:00, as well as weekends from 1st of Sept - 31st of December 2025in dialogue with Danseatelier and the other Space Away artist
- Covered studio rent
- Feedback and dialogue with the curatorial group of Space Away #3
- To host a public sharing at Danseatelier
- Minimal room for storage during the half a year
What we ask from you
- As part of the work period a public sharing of your artistic practice must be integrated. The format of the sharing can take various forms, such as a talk, performance, workshop, or other.
Further info
- Our studio is located on the 2nd floor, which can only be accessed by stairs
- Due to our neighbors we cannot play loud music after 19:00
- Unfortunately, we don’t offer a fee or salary for the invited artists
- Our studio is approx. 80 m2 (4x10m) with a small soundsystem
- We have a kitchen and bathroom (no shower)

About Danseatelier
Danseatelier is a space and a group consisting of 9 colleagues, dancers/choreographers and friends working within the expanded field of contemporary dance and choreography in Copenhagen, as well as internationally. The initiative originated in 2015 from a need for continuity, a space for knowledge sharing, as well as social and artistic support. We work with alternative modes of production and togetherness in the field of dance, finding new configurations of exchange that can enhance our senses of collective thinking and interdependent living. A large part of our practice consists of finding new ways of working together, whether it is through hosting, sharing or making work - taking inspiration from rhizomatic ideas of structuring and methodologies of multiple hierarchies. By insisting on each other and our relation to the field we want to take steps away from individualization and alienation which sets the tone in today’s fragmented and accelerated society. Danseatelier is an ongoing organisational and creative research in collectivity, morphing with time and needs.
Danseatelier consists of Nanna Stigsdatter Mathiassen, Olivia Rivière, Snorre Elvin, Karis Zidore, Emilia Gasiorek, Sandra Liaklev Andersen, Ingvild Bertelsen, Marlene Bonnesen and Stine Frandsen.
About Space Away
Space Away is an ‘artist-in-residence’ programme in Danseatelier. Through open calls, Danseatelier invites two local artists at a time to work in the studio for half a year in the off hours. This initiative is an attempt to share resources and support dance artists who temporarily need a place to focus on their work.
Space Awaywill continue throughout seasons 24/25 and 25/26 and is supported by The Danish Arts Foundation.
